July 24, 2018 -Springfield- On Monday, July 23, 2018 officers from the Agawam Police Department notified the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office an unattended death at 81 Pineview Circle.

Responding to the scene were the Agawam Police and Fire Departments, the Western Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team, Interstate Towing, and Top Knotch Tree Service.

Investigators determined a resident of 81 Pineview Circle was in the residence when a large tree fell from the backyard through the roof and into the home. The tree landed directly on the victim who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Due to the lack of a criminal investigation into the matter the Office of the Hampden District Attorney declines to publically identify the victim.

The victim’s remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for post-mortem examination.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni offers their sympathies to deceased’s family during this difficult time.
