Springfield Man Victim in Homicide

August 1, 2019 -Springfield- On Wednesday, July 31, 2019 members of the Springfield Police Department responded to the vicinity of Wilbraham Road and Benton Street at approximately 12:09 a.m. to a man suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

While on patrol, officers were flagged down while happening upon the scene. At the scene officers discovered Mr. William Fernandez-Martinez, 28, of Springfield lying on the sidewalk and unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered CPR while an ambulance was dispatched and en route.  The victim was rushed to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.  

This is an on-going homicide investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.
