June 26, 2019 -East Longmeadow- On Tuesday, June 25, 2019 members of the East Longmeadow Police Department responded to 395 Somers Road for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim at the scene, later identified as Ms. Tina Jette, 61, of East Longmeadow. She was transported to Baystate Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.  

Arrested at the scene was Mr. Matthew Scavotto, 35, of East Longmeadow. He was taken into custody and brought to the East Longmeadow Police Department. He was arraigned in Palmer District Court on a charge of murder and held without the right to bail; his next scheduled court date is on July 25, 2019   

This is an on-going investigation being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden DA’s Office, the East Longmeadow Police Department, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
