Victims of Fatal Holyoke Fire Identified, Third Victim Recovered

January 2, 2017 -Holyoke, MA- Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni, State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, Holyoke Fire Chief John Pond and Holyoke Police Chief James Neiswanger announced the identities of the victims from the January 1, 2017 fire at 106 North East Street in Holyoke, Ma. The fire took the lives of Maria Cartagena, 48, of Holyoke, Mass and Jorge Munoz, 55, also of Holyoke.

Late this afternoon search and rescue personnel discovered the remains of a third victim. Authorities are working to identify the victim and notify the deceased’s family.

This is an on-going investigation being jointly investigated by the Holyoke Fire and Police Departments and the Massachusetts State Police assigned to both the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Office of Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni.
