Arrest made in Holyoke homicide 

February 15, 2022 -Holyoke- On Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Holyoke Police Department responded to a shots fired call on the 100 block of Sargeant Street. Located in an apartment unit, was a male victim, suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. He was rushed to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The decedent has been previously identified as Damian Alicea-Diaz, 20, of Holyoke.

Recently, detectives investigating this homicide applied for and received an arrest warrant for Jose Colon-Collazo, 24, of Holyoke. On February 3, 2022 members of the Holyoke Police Department, along with the Massachusetts State Police’s Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the District Attorney’s State Police Detective Unit, located the suspect in an apartment at 69 Elmwood Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Holyoke Police Department.

Jose Colon-Collazo was arraigned in Holyoke District Court on February 7, 2022. He is currently being held without the right to bail; his next scheduled court date is on March 7, 2022.
