Carlos Reyes Charged for Motor Vehicle Collision in Springfield
March 31, 2025 – Springfield, Massachusetts – Carlos Reyes, 46, of Springfield is being charged in relation to a pedestrian’s death at the intersection of Parker Street and Verge Street in Springfield that occurred on Thursday, March 27.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., Springfield Police Officers responded to a call regarding a motor vehicle that struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was walking his bike as he crossed the street when he was struck. On scene, officers observed a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway near the victim, who had succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle had a bicycle tire lodged under the driver’s side. The owner of the vehicle had left the scene.
The victim has been identified as Aronde Odom, 30.
On Friday, March 28, Mr. Reyes walked into the Springfield Police Department, and turned himself in.
Carlos Reyes, the defendant, was found to have a warrant out of Palmer at the time he turned himself in. He was arraigned on Monday, March 31 in Springfield District Court and was charged with leaving the scene of death. He is being held on $250,000 bail. His next appearance in court will be April 29 for a bail hearing.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation by the Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit under the direction of Captain Trent Duda in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney’s Office Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit.
