June 29, 2026 – Springfield, Massachusetts – The Hampden District Attorney’s Office has announced the results of a coordinated 24-hour enforcement initiative that resulted in 51 arrests, 274 motor vehicle citations, six firearms seized, four illegal dirt bikes removed from city streets, and the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle through a collaborative effort involving the Springfield Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and the City of Springfield.

The operation, conducted June 24-25, brought together prosecutors, local and state law enforcement officers, investigators, code enforcement personnel and other public safety partners to address criminal activity and quality-of-life concerns identified by Springfield residents. More than 80 Massachusetts State Troopers supplemented Springfield Police Department patrols and enforcement efforts throughout the initiative.

The operation focused on a range of issues affecting neighborhoods across the city, including violent crime, drug activity, reckless driving, illegal off-road vehicles, gang activity, nuisance properties, and code violations. Throughout the operation, participating agencies conducted targeted investigations, traffic enforcement, code enforcement, and other coordinated efforts aimed at improving neighborhood safety and addressing concerns raised by residents.

Results of the operation include:

1. 51 arrests;
2. 274 motor vehicle citations issued;
3. 23 criminal summonses;
4. 198 city ordinance violations addressed;
5. 120 code enforcement violations;
6. 10 sex offender registry compliance checks conducted;
7. 12 Amtrak Railway trespass notices issued;
8. One stolen motor vehicle recovered;
9. Six firearms seized, including two AR-15 rifles and four handguns;
10. Four illegal dirt bikes seized; and
11. Six motor vehicle failure-to-stop incidents.

“The success of this operation reflects the strength of the partnerships we have built with our local and state law enforcement agencies,” said Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni. “Working together allows us to more effectively address the concerns residents share with us every day, whether that’s violent crime, illegal firearms, reckless driving or other quality-of-life issues. These coordinated efforts help make our neighborhoods safer, and we look forward to continuing this collaborative work throughout the summer.”

The June operation marks the first of several coordinated enforcement initiatives planned for Springfield this summer. Participating agencies will continue working together to address public safety and quality-of-life concerns while maintaining a visible presence in neighborhoods across the city.
