August 10, 2026 – Ludlow, Massachusetts – Staff from Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni’s Community Safety & Outreach (CSO) Unit recently visited the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club Camp to deliver the office’s NetSmartz and Social Media & Gaming Safety presentations to approximately 130 campers in grades kindergarten through 8, emphasizing the importance of safe online use.

Community Safety & Outreach Deputy Director Gina Anselmo led the presentations, while engaging and encouraging students to participate through helpful hints and discussion questions.

The first presentation of the day, NetSmartz, was as an interactive presentation for kindergarten through third grade campers, consisting of internet and real-world safety concepts.

The second presentation, Social Media & Gaming Safety, was targeted toward grades 4-8, and highlighted the important safety rules when connecting on social media and playing games online.

“Teaching children how to stay safe online is just as important as teaching them how to stay safe in the real world,” said Hampden District Attorney Gulluni. “While school may be out for the summer, the risks don’t take a vacation. In fact, many young people spend even more time online, on social media, and gaming during the summer months. That’s why it’s so important that we continue bringing our NetSmartz and Social Media & Gaming Safety presentations to summer camps and community programs.”

He continued, “By educating kids year-round, we’re giving them the knowledge and confidence to recognize potential dangers, make smart decisions, and know when to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.” 

The NetSmartz and Social Media & Gaming Safety presentations are two of many free programs the Hampden District Attorney’s Office offers to promote education, prevention, and youth empowerment across the county. The office regularly collaborates with schools and community partners to support the health and safety of young people.
