Jury Finds Rebecca Woods Guilty in Longmeadow Incident
April 17, 2026 – Springfield, Massachusetts – A Hampden County jury has found Rebecca Woods guilty on multiple charges stemming from a dangerous incident during the enforcement of a court-ordered eviction in Longmeadow in October 2022.
Woods was found guilty of four counts of Assault and Battery and two counts of Assault. Following the verdict, she was sentenced to six months in the House of Correction.
The charges arise from an incident in which Woods released swarms of bees as deputies from the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office Civil Process Division attempted to carry out a lawful eviction. Multiple deputies were stung during the incident, including one who suffered stings to the face and head, and others who required medical attention.
“This was an intentional and dangerous act that put law enforcement and members of the public at risk. Court orders exist to be followed, and the defendant’s attempts to disrupt them were unlawful and absurd,” said Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni. “I commend ADA Blake McConnell for his work on this case and recognize the deputies who were simply doing their jobs and were put in harm’s way.”
The Commonwealth was represented by Assistant District Attorney Blake McConnell and Victim Witness Advocate Shannon Kelly.
