Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni has identified the victim involved in a shooting on Barton Street on Wednesday, Feb. 25.

At approximately 2 a.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a residence on the 0–100 block of Barton Street for a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Edwin Rodriguez, 53, of Springfield.

The Springfield Police Homicide Unit under the direction of Captain Trent Duda are investigating in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney’s Murder Unit.
