July 16, 2024 -Holyoke- On Wednesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:22 p.m., officers from the Holyoke Police Department responded to the area of the 50 block of West Street for a reported shot spotter activation. Responding  officers located an adult male gunshot victim who was transported to Baystate Medical Center along with two other people with non-life threatening injuries. The victim soon passed away from the injuries he received.  

The victim has been identified as Mr. Dexter Ortiz, 38, of Holyoke.

This in an ongoing investigation being conducted by members of the Holyoke Police Department,  Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.
