On Thursday, January 27, 2022 at approximately 5:00 a.m. The Springfield Police Department responded to area of Pinevale and Essex Streets for a report of a gunshot victim.  Responding officers located an adult male, seated inside a motor vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Jorge Rivera-Oriz, 29, of Springfield.

This is an on-going investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.
