November 22, 2021 -Springfield- On Sunday, November 21, 2021 the Springfield Police Department responded to Ablemarle Street between the intersections of Wilbraham Road and Westford Circle for a report of a gunshot victim at approximately 12:40 a.m.

Officers located a victim, who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound, in a car. Paramedics arrived on scene and administered first-aid, but the he was pronounced deceased.  

The decedent has been identified as Mr. Jay’Quawne Ward, 31, of Springfield.

This is an on-going investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit. Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni expresses his sympathies to Mr. Ward ’s family.
