Ahmed Ahmed Held On Pre-Trial Detention Following 58A Dangerousness Hearing
June 17, 2025 – Springfield, Massachusetts – Ahmed Ahmed, 53, of Springfield, Massachusetts was found to be a dangerous person after a 58A hearing in Springfield District Court. Ahmed will be held under pre-trial detention for 120 days.
On May 30, 2025 at approximately 10:23 p.m., Springfield Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Fort Pleasant Avenue for a report of a sexual assault. Upon arrival, officers were met with a juvenile victim who reported they were allegedly assaulted by a male party unknown to them. The victim informed officers that at approximately 8:00 p.m., they were walking in the area of Hancock and Rifle Streets when they were dragged into a wooded area located inside Johnny Appleseed Park and sexually assaulted. The victim managed to escape during the assault and upon escape, the defendant allegedly chased the victim from Johnny Appleseed Park to their residence on Fort Pleasant Avenue. Upon the victim arriving to their residence, the defendant was allegedly seen to be stalking the victim from outside their residence before departing in an unknown direction. Officers immediately issued a “Be On The Lookout” (BOLO) for the defendant. The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center and Springfield Detectives took photos of the victim as well as collect pertinent evidence and information.
On the following day, June 2, 2025 at approximately 12:05 p.m., Springfield Detectives received a phone call informing them of the whereabouts of the defendant. Officers responded to 34 Catherine Street, the Deborah Hunt Prevention and Education Center, where the defendant was observed sitting on a milk crate in front of the establishment. Officers approached the defendant, where he positively identified himself as Ahmed Ahmed. With the assistance of a Springfield Police Officer who is fluent in Arabic, Ahmed was asked to provide a statement at Springfield Police Headquarters the following day, in which he agreed to. Ahmed was arrested and placed into custody at approximately 4:00 p.m. on June 3, 2025.
Ahmed Ahmed was arraigned in Springfield District Court on June 4, 2025 and is currently facing charges of: (1) count of kidnapping, (1) count of aggravated rape during the commission of a felony, (1) count witness intimidation, (1) count stalking, and (1) count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
This remains an ongoing investigation by the Hampden District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit in conjunction with the Springfield Police Department. Ahmed’s next date is pre-trial conference, which is scheduled for July 11, 2025 in Hampden District Court.
