Armoni Davis Held Without Bail, Charged with Murder in January 2025 Oakland Street Homicide
October 30, 2025 – Springfield, Massachusetts – Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni has announced that Armoni Davis, 16, of Springfield, has been charged in connection with a January 12, 2025, homicide on Oakland Street in Springfield. Davis was arraigned in Hampden Superior Court on Monday, October 20, 2025, and ordered held without the right to bail.
He faces charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm as a youthful offender.
On Sunday January 12, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Springfield Police Officers responded to the 100 block of Oakland Street for a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot victim. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been previously identified as Semaj Brewster, 19, of Springfield.
The Springfield Police Homicide Unit, under the direction of Captain Trent Duda, began investigating this shooting and were able to identify the suspect, Armoni Davis. Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for the individual.
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, Springfield Homicide Detectives and Chicopee Police Officers arrested Armoni Davis, whose name was not released at the time due to his age. Davis was indicted by a grand jury on Oct. 2, 2025. His next date in court is April 21, 2026, for a pre-trial hearing. Davis is presumed innocent of all allegations until proven guilty.
This matter remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office Murder Unit.
