DA’s Office Announces Launch of HERizon Program for Young Women in Hampden County

September 4, 2025 – Springfield, Massachusetts – Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni has announced the creation of a new initiative, HERizon, a leadership and empowerment program designed specifically for high school girls across Hampden County. Modeled after the DA’s successful Youth Advisory Board, HERizon will provide young women with mentorship, education, and opportunities to build confidence and leadership skills.

Through regular meetings, workshops, and community projects, participants in HERizon will gain tools to navigate challenges facing young women today, including self-esteem, healthy relationships, leadership development, and civic engagement. The program aims to create a network of support and give participants a voice in shaping a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

“We know that young women today face unique pressures and challenges, from social media to questions of self-worth, safety, and leadership opportunities. We created HERizon to give young women the space and support to discuss the topics most important to them, to connect with mentors, and to become leaders,” Gulluni said. “Just as our Youth Advisory Board has empowered students to make a difference in their communities, HERizon will inspire and equip young women to become the next generation of society’s leaders.”

The program is designed to be shaped by girls, for girls – a space where their voice leads the way.

Applications for HERizon are now open to high school girls in Hampden County. Interested students are encouraged to apply at https://tinyurl.com/392avv9y.
