Dodge Pleads Guilty in Holland Sexual Assault Case from 2000

August 7, 2025 – Springfield, Massachusetts – Jamie Dodge pleaded guilty in Hampden County Superior Court on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, to charges stemming from a 2000 sexual assault case in Holland, resolving an investigation that remained unsolved for 25 years.

Dodge was sentenced to 12 to 15 years in state prison on one count of aggravated rape, and three years’ probation on and after for one count of kidnapping.

During a prior court proceeding, on July 23, 2025, the Commonwealth asked for a sentence of 15-18 years in state prison to be imposed, while the defendant asked for a sentence of 7-7 and one day in state prison.  Hampden Superior Court Judge Tracy Duncan recommended a sentence of 12-15 years be imposed and the defendant’s guilty plea was scheduled for Wednesday, August 6.

“This resolution brings a long-overdue measure of justice and accountability,” said Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni. “For 25 years, the victim in this case lived without answers. Thanks to advances in forensic technology and the unwavering determination of investigators, we were able to identify the perpetrator and hold him responsible. I commend the victim for her strength and courage throughout this process.”

On Sunday, July 23, 2000, just before noon, a sexual assault was reported to Holland police officers. Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the local barracks and the State Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office immediately responded to the scene on Sand Hill Road in Holland. Also responding were troopers from the Massachusetts State Police’s Airwing and Canine Units, who were actively looking for a suspect.

The victim, an adult female, had been walking on Sand Hill Road when she was grabbed from behind, pulled off the roadway and dragged into the nearby woods.  She then was sexually assaulted by an unknown white male.

In the proceeding days, weeks and months, investigators extensively canvassed the area and interviewed dozens of people. Despite these efforts, a suspect was never identified.

In March 2001, forensic testing identified an unknown male DNA profile on evidence collected in connection with this investigation. This unknown male DNA profile was uploaded to the national CODIS database and searched against offender profiles for the ensuing two decades but never yielded a match.

As part of a renewed investigation in this case, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office contracted with Parabon Nanolabs in Reston, Virgina to conduct phenotyping and forensic investigative genetic genealogy upon the unknown male DNA profile previously developed. This effort proved fruitful. Following up on the reported physical characteristics and investigative leads provided from Parabon’s forensic analysis, District Attorney Anthony Gulluni’s Unresolved and Unidentified Case Investigation Unit identified and located the suspected offender.

These efforts culminated in May of 2024 when a Hampden County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Jamie Dodge with aggravated rape and kidnapping. Thereafter, an arrest warrant was issued by the Hampden County Superior Court. Jamie Dodge was apprehended on the arrest warrant on May 7, 2024, by members of the Hampden District Attorney’s State Police Detective Unit.

He was arraigned in Hampden County Superior Court on May 8, 2024, and was held on a $250,000 cash bail.

Subsequent court ordered DNA testing after Dodge’s arrest led to the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory, and an additional forensic laboratory, matching Dodge’s DNA profile to the DNA profile previously developed from swabs taken from the victim by hospital staff in 2000.

The Commonwealth was represented by Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Dunphy Farris, and was assisted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Locke and Victim Witness Advocate Deb Chieco.
