Hampden DA Gulluni Awards $20,000 to Michael J. Dias Foundation for Christian and Brian’s House

September 25, 2025 – Springfield, Massachusetts – Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni presented a $20,000 check to the Michael J. Dias Foundation on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in support of Christian and Brian’s House, a sober living residence located in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood.

The funding marks the latest contribution from the Hampden District Attorney’s Office to support the Dias Foundation’s mission. To date, the office has provided $65,000 in support of the foundation’s homes.

During the event, DA Gulluni emphasized the importance of strengthening recovery resources in the community.

“This foundation provides life-changing opportunities for men who are working hard to rebuild their lives,” said Gulluni. “Christian and Brian’s House is not just a roof over someone’s head — it’s a supportive environment where individuals find accountability, compassion, and the chance to succeed in recovery.”

Representatives from the Michael J. Dias Foundation and the Forest Park Project joined the District Attorney for the presentation.

“Our mission is rooted in the belief that recovery is possible with the right support,” Gulluni added. “Directing dollars to organizations like this ensures that money once connected to crime is reinvested into the community for healing and hope.”

The Michael J. Dias Foundation was founded in 2012 with the opening of Michael’s House, a sober living community for men in the early stages of recovery. Residents are required to work and contribute toward operating costs, while the foundation covers capital needs to keep the homes sustainable. Known for their family-centered culture, the homes have earned a reputation as safe, supportive places for men in recovery.

With community support, the foundation has expanded to multiple residences, including Christian and Brian’s House, established in 2020. The home was made possible with the help of the Forest Park Project, a nonprofit created in honor of Christian Diaz and Brian Metzger. Both men touched countless lives with their kindness and charisma, and their losses highlight the devastating toll of the opioid epidemic.

“Christian and Brian’s House is a lasting tribute to two young men whose lives were cut short, and it now stands as a place of renewal and second chances,” Gulluni said. “We are proud to support this work and the countless families it will impact for years to come.”
