Malachi Williams Held Without the Right to Bail Following Dangerousness Hearing
October 22, 2025 – Springfield, MA – Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni has announced that Malachi Williams, 19, of Springfield, has been ordered held without the right to bail following a dangerousness hearing held in Springfield District Court on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025.
A District Court judge ordered that Williams be held pending further proceedings after reviewing multiple open investigations and cases involving the defendant.
Background of Incidents
Armed Carjacking (July 12, 2025):
Williams was arrested in connection with an armed carjacking in Springfield. Officers responded to Ladd Street and Eastern Avenue for a reported crash involving a vehicle that had been stolen earlier that evening. Upon arrival, officers located Williams near the scene, uncooperative, and wearing only one sneaker. The stolen vehicle was found with a loaded, large-capacity firearm without a serial number on the driver’s seat. A matching sneaker was recovered between the brake and accelerator, and a ski mask and shirt were also recovered. The original victim reported that three individuals wearing black clothing and ski masks, one of them armed, ordered him out of his car.
Domestic Incident (May 29, 2025):
Chicopee Police responded to Meetinghouse Road after a report that a male was being aggressive toward a female. The victim reported that Williams broke a window at her home, shoved her, took her phone, and threatened that he “would have her house shot up.”
Union Station Shooting (March 25, 2025):
Williams was also identified as being involved in a midday shooting at Union Station in Springfield. Two juveniles were charged in the incident, and subsequent investigation revealed that Williams assisted the shooter by carrying the firearm in a bag after the shooting and swapping jackets to conceal the shooter’s identity. Surveillance footage showed Williams and others approaching the victim and challenging him to a fight before shots were fired. The shooting occurred around 3:48 p.m. in a busy public area, placing numerous bystanders at risk.
Breaking and Entering / Arrest (September 30, 2025):
After cutting off his court-ordered GPS monitoring device in August, Williams was wanted on multiple warrants. On Sept. 30, Springfield Police observed him in the area of Pearl Street. When officers approached, Williams fled into a nearby apartment building on Elliot Street. Police established a perimeter and made forcible entry into an unoccupied apartment, where Williams eventually surrendered.
Court Outcome
Following the Oct. 14, 58A dangerousness hearing, a District Court judge ordered that Williams be held without the right to bail. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 18. Williams is presumed innocent of all allegations until proven guilty.
“This defendant has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to endanger others and a complete disregard for the law,” said Gulluni. “My office will always act to protect our communities from individuals who show such persistent and escalating dangerous behavior.”
The cases remain under investigation by the Springfield Police Department, Chicopee Police Department, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Violent Crimes Unit.
