Update on West Springfield Fire Investigation
November 25, 2025 – West Springfield, Massachusetts – The Hampden District Attorney’s Office and the West Springfield Fire Department are providing an update regarding the residential fire that occurred at 98 Allston Ave. in West Springfield on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. The inquiry is being conducted jointly by the West Springfield Fire Investigation Unit — comprised of members of the West Springfield Fire and Police Departments — in coordination with the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. At this time, the evidence indicates the cause of the fire does not appear to be criminal in nature.
The victim who was transported from the scene with serious injuries has died as a result of those injuries.
No further information about the victim is being released at this time. Additional updates will be provided as appropriate as the investigation continues.
