USPS Driver Charged with OUI In East Longmeadow Motor Vehicle v. Pedestrian Collision
August 28, 2025 – East Longmeadow, Massachusetts – The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office and the East Longmeadow Police Department are investigating an incident involving a pedestrian being struck that occurred on the morning of Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
At approximately 9:40 a.m., East Longmeadow Police Officers were notified of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian that occurred at 13 N. Main St., the Pride Gas Station, involving a United States Postal Service vehicle. Officers responded and located an adult male suffering from head injuries. This individual was transported to Baystate Medical Center with significant injuries but is currently in stable condition.
East Longmeadow Officers were also notified that a USPS vehicle left the scene and traveled north on Elm Street. Dispatch notified officers that the mail truck crashed into the building at 201 N. Main St., which is a Peoples Bank branch.
The operator of the USPS vehicle has been identified as Robert O’Sullivan, 54, of Westfield, Massachusetts.
O’Sullivan was arraigned in Palmer District Court on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, on (1) count of operating under the influence of alcohol, and (1) count of leaving the scene of personal injury. The Commonwealth requested that the defendant be held on $100,000 bail, with bail ultimately being set at $10,000 by the court.
O’Sullivan’s next date in Palmer District Court is September 19, 2025, for pre-trial conference.
This remains an ongoing investigation by the Hampden District Attorney’s Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit in conjunction with the East Longmeadow Police Department.
