Victim Identified in Sept. 23 Chicopee Homicide
October 7, 2025 – Chicopee, Massachusetts – On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at approximately 2:22 p.m., Chicopee Police Officers received a report of a shooting in the 0–100 block of Dayton Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male gunshot victim in the driveway of the residence. The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Ronald J. Kogut, 59, of Chicopee.
After investigators reviewed video footage of the shooting, they were able to identify an individual allegedly connected to the incident. This individual has been identified as Timothy Lynch, 27, of Chicopee, Massachusetts.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Timothy Lynch was arraigned in Chicopee District Court on (1) count of murder, (1) count of possession of a firearm without an FID card, (1) count of possession of ammunition without an FID card, (1) count of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and (1) count of possession to distribute a Class B substance.
Lynch is currently being held without the right to bail. His next date in Chicopee District Court is November 10, 2025, for pre-trial conference. Lynch is presumed innocent of all allegations until proven guilty.
This remains an ongoing investigation conducted by the Hampden District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit in conjunction with the Chicopee Police Department.
