Victim Identified in Sept. 29 Springfield Homicide

October 8, 2025 – Springfield, Massachusetts – On Monday, September 29, 2025, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Springfield Police Officers responded to the 2800 block of Main Street for a report of a stabbing. An adult male victim was located on scene suffering from a stab wound and was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he later passed away from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Timothy Chapdelaine, 48, of Springfield.

The Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit, under the direction of Captain Trent Duda, immediately began an investigation in collaboration with the Hampden District Attorney’s Murder Unit.

As a result, Hector Lopez, 36, of Springfield, has been charged with murder in connection with this incident. Lopez was arraigned on Wednesday, Oct. 1 and was held without the right to bail. His next date in court is on Oct. 30. Lopez is presumed innocent of all allegations until proven guilty.

This matter remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office Murder Unit.
