11 Arrested, Three Firearms, 6700 bags of Heroin, and $48,000 Seized in Heroin Trafficking Investigation
June 27, 2018 -Springfield- On the morning of Tuesday, June 26, 2018, the Hampden County Narcotics Task Force consisting of: the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, Springfield Police Department’s Narcotics, Street Crimes and C3 Units, the West Springfield Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations executed 12 search warrants throughout Hampden County following a lengthy investigation into the trafficking of narcotics here in Hampden County.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni stated, “I would like to thank the dedicated and professional members of law enforcement who participated in this investigation. Continuing to hold accountable those who wish to profit from addiction remains the number one priority of my administration.”
The locations, individuals arrested and items seized are as follows:
145 Cambridge Street, Springfield, Mass
Arrested: Derek Lopez, 30, of Springfield, on the charge of: Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
Items Seized: Approx. $7164.00, 9 bags of heroin.
29 Morris Street, Springfield, Mass
Arrested: Milagros Ortiz, 48, of Springfield, on the charges: Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws, Trafficking in Heroin (36-100 grams)
Kevin Rivera-Ortiz, 20, of Springfield, Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws, Trafficking in Heroin (36-100 grams), Possession of a loaded Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of Ammunition without FID card
Items seized: One Glock .40 caliber handgun, loaded, nineteen .40 caliber rounds of ammunition, approximately $460.00, 1400 bags of heroin (packaged for distribution)

203 Circuit Avenue “U Name It Self Storage” Unit #WS-14 West Springfield, Mass
Items seized: $25,380, one vehicle (2006 BMW)
The total amount of money, drugs and guns for this round of search warrants were:

Approximately 19 grams of raw heroin
Approximately 156 grams of cocaine
Approximately $48,866 in US Currency
