Suspect in Chester Assault Found

February 11, 2019 -Springfield- On Sunday, February 10, 2019 Massachusetts State Police Troopers from the Russell barracks responded to Baystate Noble Hospital for a report of a women suffering from a stab wound. The wound was the result of a domestic altercation; she was transported to the emergency room by her husband who immediately fled. The attack occurred in their home on Blandford Road in the Town of Chester.   

The incident caused Baystate Noble to put precautionary safety measures into place on Sunday.

The Massachusetts State Police immediately began searching for the suspect utilizing personnel from the: Russell State police Barracks, Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Massachusetts State Police K-9 Units, and Massachusetts State Police Air Wing.     

Tragically, the sought after suspect, who was also the stabbing victim’s husband, Mr. Igor Kachur, 26, of Chester, Mass, was discovered today in Chester deceased. Foul play is not suspected.

The investigation is currently being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

This is an open and active investigation.
