Three Arrested In Holyoke Narcotics Investigation

March 26, 2019 -Holyoke- On March 21, 2019 members of Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni’s Hampden County Narcotics Taskforce arrested: Jose Rivera, 44, Carlos Rivera, 48, and Nathan Rivera, 21 for their alleged involvement in the sale and trafficking of heroin in the City of Holyoke.

After a lengthy investigation into the sale and trafficking of heroin in the City of Holyoke, members of the Hampden County Narcotics Task Force initiated an investigation into the sale of heroin out of 184 Sargeant Street in the City of Holyoke. 

As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was applied for and granted for 184 Sargeant Street, 1st Floor.  On Thursday March 21, 2019 members of the Taskforce along with the Holyoke Police Department’s Narcotics Unit executed the warrant. Carlos Rivera was approached by investigators outside the residence and found to be in possession of the heroin.  He was cooperative and was escorted back to the residence.

Upon entering the residence and announcing their presence, officers located Jose Rivera, a second subject who was disabled male and laying on the couch as well as a female subject.  Investigators observed Jose Rivera with a plastic bag containing an amount of bundled heroin and a loaded a semi-automatic .40 caliber firearm that was located next to him.  All subjects were secured with the exception of the disabled individual and the firearm was retrieved and made safe.

While investigators continued the search of the apartment another male, identified as Nathan Rivera approached the residence to enter. He was found to be in possession of over 1000 bags of heroin. 

Recovered during the subsequent search of that residence was the .40 caliber firearm, ammunition, 1617 bags heroin (includes the 1000 bags found on Jose Rivera), 10 grams of cocaine, a grinder, packaging material and cutting agent. 

Jose Rivera has been charged with: Trafficking Heroin (18 -36 Grams), Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Firearm Without a License-Carry, Possession of a Firearm while in Commission of a Felony, three counts of Drug Distribution, Class A Substance. He was arraigned on Monday, March 25, 2019 and his currently being held on $25,000 cash bail, The Commonwealth requested $100,000. His next scheduled court date in on April 25, 2019.  

Carlos Rivera has been charged with: Trafficking Heroin (18-36 Grams), three counts Drug Distribution Class A Substance. He was arraigned on Monday, March 25, 2019 and his currently being held on $1,500 cash bail, The Commonwealth requested $25,000. His next scheduled court date in on April 25, 2019.  

Nathan Rivera has been charged with Heroin Trafficking (18-36 Grams). He was arraigned on Monday, March 25, 2019 and his currently being held on $10,000 cash bail, The Commonwealth requested $50,000. His next scheduled court date in on April 16, 2019.
