August 11, 2023 -Springfield- The victim in Sunday’s, August 6, 2023, homicide on Hancock Street has been identified as Mr. Emmanuel Hernandez-Garcia, 29, of Springfield.

At 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 6^th, 2023, Springfield Police Officers responded to the intersection of Hancock and Union Streets for a reported gunshot victim.

When officers arrived they located Mr. Hernandez-Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound on Hancock Street.  He was quickly transported to Baystate Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Murder Unit.
