Hampden County Narcotics Taskforce Confiscates Multiple Firearms in Drug Arrest

April 6, 2017 -Holyoke- On Wednesday April 5, 2017, members of the Hampden County Narcotics Task Force, which includes the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni’s Office, the Holyoke Police Department Narcotics Vice Division, and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, along with the Western Massachusetts Gang Taskforce, executed a search warrant related to a drug distribution investigation in the City of Holyoke.

During the subsequent search of the residence, located at 428 Maple Street, law enforcement recovered a AK-47 Assault Rifle, a Ruger Mark II .22 hand gun with magazine, 104 .22 rounds of ammunition, approximately 46 bags of heroin, a stamp, packaging materials, and a small amount of US Currency.

Arrested in connection with the investigation was Manuel Merced, 27, of Holyoke.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni stated, “I would like to thank all the agencies involved in this arrest for their continued hard work toward the interests of public safety. My office and its law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law against violent criminals, street gangs, and drug traffickers, who attempt to compromise public safety in neighborhoods and communities in this county.”

Manuel Merced will be arraigned in Holyoke District Court.
