Investigation into Cambridge Street Homicide Continues

October 15, 2018 -Springfield- On Friday, October 12, 2018 at approximately 9:07 p.m. officers from the Springfield Police Department responded to the vicinity of Cambridge Street and Burr Street for a shot-spotter activation.

Upon arrival officers located a victim inside a motor vehicle which came to a stop between a fence and a telephone pole. The victim, who appears to have been the driver, was pronounced deceased at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Xavier Jourdan, 26, of Springfield.

This is an open and active homicide investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni and Springfield Police Commissioner John Barbieri offer their sympathies to Mr. Jourdan’s family during this difficult time.
