Investigation into Fort Pleasant Avenue Homicide Continues

August 30, 2018 -Springfield- On Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at approximately 11:39 p.m. officers from the Springfield Police Department responded to the vicinity of 66 Fort Pleasant Avenue for a shot spotter activation.

Upon arrival officers located a victim in front of 60 Fort Pleasant Avenue suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Responding officers immediately began providing emergency aid while waiting for the arrival of an ambulance.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Kevin Gonzalez, 21, of Springfield. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

This is an open and active homicide investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni and Springfield Police Commissioner John Barbieri offer their sympathies to Mr. Gonzalez’s family during this difficult time.
