Multiple Arrests Made in Holyoke Homicide Investigation

December 23, 2016 -Holyoke, MA- On Thursday, December 22, 2016 at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Holyoke Police Department responded to 100 Pine Street for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival officers observed a male victim who was unresponsive.  The responding officer immediately began administrating first aid while paramedics were dispatched to the scene. While in route to the hospital, paramedics determined the victim had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced deceased upon arrival to Bay State Medical Center.

The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni’s Office along with the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services were called to the scene of a now active homicide an investigation.

Early in the investigation detectives were able to identify a person of interest. Once that person was located leads to a second suspect were developed. Arrested on charges of murder were Eric Carattini, 24, of Holyoke, MA and Nashan Perez, 20, also of Holyoke. 

The victim has been identified as Mr. Anthony Sirakowski, 55; address is undetermined at this time.

District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni stated, “I would like to thank the Holyoke Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to my office for their quick action and skill that led to these two arrests.”

Please note this incident was not random in nature and the investigation is active and ongoing. Both suspects will be arraigned today in Holyoke District Court.
