January 6, 2022 -Springfield- On Monday, January 3, 2022 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Chicopee Police Officers responded to 190 East Street for a report of a single vehicle crash.  As officers arrived they located an adult male, who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound, the responding officer rendered  first aid until the victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Kelvin Cruz-Lopez, 23, of Chicopee.

This is an on-going investigation being conducted by the Chicopee Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.
