Victim in Springfield homicide identified

June 30, 2022 -Springfield- On Sunday, June 26, 2022 at approximately 6:30 p.m. the Springfield Police Department responded to the 100 block of Genesee Street for a reported gunshot victim.  On scene, responding officers located an adult male who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased .

The victim has been identified as Mr. Rashad Taylor, 41, of Springfield.

Mr. Taylor’s family is deeply disheartened by this tragic loss and stated that the police are working hard to solve this case. They are asking for anyone who may have any information about the circumstances of Mr. Taylor’s death to please contact the Springfield Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 413-787-6355 or anonymously use Text-A-Tip by texting CRIMES (2-7-4-6-3-7) and type SOLVE at the beginning of your tip.

This is an on-going investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit.
