Antonio Garcia Marcial Receives 15-20 Prison Sentence for Aggravated Rape of a Child

July 14, 2016 -Springfield, Ma- Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni announced today the guilty verdict stemming from a 2013 arrest involving the aggravated rape of a child.

Antonio Garcia Marcial, 37, of Holyoke, Ma, has been found guilty by a Hampden County Jury and sentenced to 15-20 years in prison followed eight years of probation for the aggravated rape of a child

 Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni stated, “I thank and commend the members of the jury for their service, and express my gratitude and pride toward Assistant District Attorney Eileen M. Sears for the hard work and skill she brought to this case as well as the Holyoke Police Department for their thorough investigation.” D.A. Gulluni went on to say, “The work we do to protect children is among our most solemn and important responsibilities as prosecutors and enforcers of the law. I am happy that we have brought punishment to this defendant and some sense of justice to the victim. This office will continue to tenaciously work to protect and defend the vulnerable among us.”

A child in Holyoke, from the age of 5 until 9 years old, endured years of repeated sexual abuse by Garcia. On one occasion, he restrained the child with handcuffs and placed a sock in the child’s mouth to stifle any screams.

As a result of these crimes, Antonio Garcia Marcial was tried, convicted, and sentenced on the following charges: Rape of a Child with Force (15-20 years), five counts of Aggravated Statutory Rape of a Child (15-20 years), three counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14 Years of Age (8 years of probation) All prison sentences are to run concurrently as well as no unsupervised contact with minors while on probation.
