Felix Rivera Guilty In 2018 Home Invasion

May 10, 2019 -Springfield- On Friday, May 10, 2019 Felix Rivera, 23, of Springfield, was found guilty on the charges of: Home Invasion, Possession of a Firearm without and FID Card, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery to Collect a Loan, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery with a Firearm

The charges stemmed from a February 26, 2018 incident where Rivera showed up at the victim’s apartment and pulled out a gun and pointed it at him, to which, the victim responded by pushing him backwards. The defendant then shot the victim in the groin and proceeded to put the gun to his head while he was on the floor. Rivera never fired a second shot.

The victim was later transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he identified the shooter as his former brother-in-law, Felix Rivera. The victim felt the incident was over an outstanding $1500 loan the defendant made to the victim.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni stated, “Violent crime has no place is society, especially when it involves the egregious act of entering someone’s home. I would like to thank Assistant District Attorney Mary Sandstrom for aggressively and expertly prosecuting this case to a successful disposition.”

Felix Rivera is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in Hampden Superior Court.

Assistant District Attorney Mary Sandstrom represented the Commonwealth in this case.
