September 14, 2021 -Springfield- Officers from the Springfield Police Department responded to a Shotspotter activation on Saturday, September 11, 2021 around 2:50 p.m. on Vermont Street.

When officers arrived they discovered a gunshot victim, who was immediately transported to Baystate Medical Center. Later on in the evening she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.  

The victim has been identified as Ms. Kiara Torres, 27, of  Springfield.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder unit
